Fabrics, Materials & Care

Our cotton-rich fabrics and how to care for them.

Are your fabrics gentle on sensitive skin?

Yes. We favour soft, breathable, cotton-rich materials precisely because they’re kind to little ones’ delicate and sensitive skin. Cotton also grows softer with every wash.

Can I iron or steam my MeMe Mae garments?

Yes — most of our cotton-rich pieces can be ironed on a low to medium heat. Turn the garment inside out and avoid pressing directly over any embroidery, buttons, or embellishments; a quick steam is a gentle alternative. Always check the individual care label first.

Can I tumble dry my child’s clothes?

For the longest life, we suggest reshaping garments while damp and drying flat or on a low tumble setting. Gentle drying helps preserve the shape, softness, and delicate details of each piece.

How can I store heirloom pieces to keep them beautiful?

Store clean, fully dry garments in a cool, dark place away from damp, ideally wrapped in acid-free tissue. This keeps treasured pieces fresh and ready to pass down to the next little one.

How do I care for delicate details like embroidery, bows, or tulle?

Turn the garment inside out and use a gentle or hand-wash cycle in a mesh laundry bag to protect embroidery, bows, and tulle. Lay flat to dry and iron on a low heat, avoiding direct contact with any embellishments.

How should I wash my MeMe Mae garments?

To protect the fabric and finishing details, we recommend washing in cool water on a gentle cycle, turning items inside out, and avoiding bleach. Always check the individual care label, as some styles with embroidery or embellishments benefit from extra care.

What are your clothes made from?

Our pieces are crafted from soft, cotton-rich fabrics chosen for comfort against delicate skin and durability wash after wash. Thoughtful touches like collars, embroidery, and bows are what make each garment feel special.

Will the colours fade over time?

Washing in cool water, turning items inside out, and drying away from direct sunlight all help keep colours rich and true. Avoiding bleach and harsh detergents protects both the colour and the fabric.
